The light
will fit snug into the ashtray chassis and a slot is machined at the top of the aluminum
plate for easy removal with a small screwdriver or coin. The light unlike flashlights will
not fail suddenly when the battery life is exhausted. LEDs will gradually get dimmer
providing you with a warning to replace the batteries.
The ON/OFF switch is located in the middle of the light between the Fresnal Lens. This makes it simple to find in the dark. Although the ASHLIGHT was designed for emergency situations some pilots just like having more light in the cockpit especially in older model planes with poor dash lights. You will also find it works great for a courtesy light for both preflight and postflight procedures. | |

As an ATP pilot and flight instructor I have tried every flashlight that has come along for the past 15 years. After experiencing no less than 3 complete alternator failures at night I can assure you it is no time to fumble with a flashlight. Have you ever tried flying a plane while holding a flashlight? While doing night training my favorite emergency drill for pilots is to turn the lights off in the cockpit. Have you ever tried it? Most pilots will choke while trying to point the flashlight tied around their neck and you better hold on when they start trying to read the emergency checklist and fly. You will find that in a simulated or real emergency you cannot have to much light. Nothing is darker than a black cockpit in IMC conditions. The ASHLIGHT is bright and you will appreciate every single drop of candlepower. The one thing we guarantee is that old ashtray unit full of chewing gum wrappers isn't going to help you! |
